County Stream Stabilization Initiative Project Application in PDF form.
County Stream Stabilization Initiative Project Application in Word doc form.
Dear Bradford County Resident:
The Bradford County Commissioners, in cooperation with the Bradford County Conservation District (BCCD) and with funding provided by the PA Dept. of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), is pleased to be able to offer technical and financial assistance to landowners with streambank erosion issues. This initiative is focused on helping you address, through stabilization, critically eroding stream banks and channels that threaten your home and property and degrade the quality of our County's environment.
This program will only allocate funds to structural impacts at this time. This program does not provide funding for flood control (i.e. installing dikes or berms), channel relocation (including regaining of previously eroded land), or gravel removal. Only techniques such as rip-rap rock placement and other stabilization practices allowable through a General Permit-3, as set forth in guidelines by PA DEP, will be eligible.
Through this program, we are offering a limited number of landowners up to $24,000.00 in cost sharing funds to correct identified stream issues through designs developed by the Bradford County Conservation District. The information you provide in this application will help us direct those limited resources to where they are most needed, so please complete this form in its entirety including attachments. Applications will be accepted from August 1st to August 31st, 2007. Should any portion of this request be incomplete or any information missing, it will be rejected for funding consideration. Only complete applications received within the designated application acceptance timeframe will be accepted. Download the application as a PDF file or Word doc using the above links.
Who we are:
Pennsylvania's conservation districts, established in 1945 under the Conservation District Law, are the local unit of State government that provides the link between the citizens and the multitude of local, State, federal natural resource management programs and agencies. A volunteer Board of Directors are appointed by the County Commissioners from nominations received from County-wide organizations. Non-voting Associate Directors, who serve on committees and engage in other Board activities, are appointed by the Conservation District Board. A staff of professionals provides information, technical and financial assistance, educational programs, and support at the direction of the Board of Directors.
Conservation Districts work to help people and communities take care of the natural resources in their area including soil, water, wildlife, trees and other plants. Using natural resources wisely helps to insure their availability well into the future.
Conservation Districts operate under the belief that conservation works best when local people, those who live and work in the area, play an active role in managing their natural resources. Because conservation districts are familiar with local issues they are able to identify and prioritize actions needed to manage the resources of a particular area.
The Directors and staff of the Bradford County Conservation District stand ready to offer technical assistance and educational guidance to land owners and managers, local governments, teachers, students and people from every walk of life. Some of the programs and services available include: Environmental Education, Erosion & Sedimentation Pollution Control, Storm Water Management, Floodplain Monitoring, Dirt & Gravel Roads Pollution Prevention, Nutrient Management, Chesapeake Bay Program, Watershed Protection, Beneficial Use of Bio-Solids, Waterway and Wetlands Protection, Agricultural Land Preservation. |
